13 Reflections of Evil Event Recap!
This blog post is an overview of the 13 Reflections of Evil pin trading event on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
I started my day with breakfast at my resort, Boardwalk Inn. Then I walked over to EPCOT around 9:30. There was a very long line to get into World Showplace convention center so I decide to ride Spaceship Earth real quick!
I ended up getting to the event around 10:15. My first thoughts were "wow, this is going to be an amazing day!". The environment was dark with lots of colored and black lights. Lines were everywhere! I didn't know where to start. As soon as you got in the building, registration was on the right and upcoming pin releases were displayed on the left.
I walked straight into the main part and noticed the pin trading boards right away. Everyone was standing in line waiting to trade at these boards. The lines took about 20-30 minutes and you couldn't see the pins until it was your turn. All of the pin boards were facing the wall. First you had to hand your 2 pins to the cast member and then you had 1 minute to choose 2 pins! These boards contained a few hundred pins and had limited release and limited edition pins scattered throughout.
I did not get in line for these pin boards until the afternoon. First thing I did was head to the center of the convention center where the silent auction was and the 13ROE merchandise for sale.
I got in line and bought a box of villain comic pins and mystery puzzle piece pins. I added them straight to my lanyard.
After buying those pins, I went to the far end of the building where fellow pin traders had their pins set up on tables. I'd say there were a few hundred people at the tables trading. I didn't really trade with anyone here because I wanted to spend most of my time at the Disney boards.
BUT, I did meet Amy and Elizabeth from "Disney Pins $1.15 + up" on Facebook!! I was so excited to meet them because I've purchased pins from them before and always watch their YouTube videos! They even let me be in one of their videos. So exciting!
After meeting them I went to grab a hot dog real quick in EPCOT and then came back. And then the whole afternoon I went from line to line to pin trade on the giant Disney pin boards! Disney had a secret mirror set that was only being released on their boards. There were 6 pins to this set and I found them all! Here is a picture.
After finding that pin set I went back to my room to drop off some of my pins. Then I headed back around 4pm to do more pin trading. Around 5pm they were giving out the witching hour gift. This gift was a limited release pin set, and they glow in the dark! I really like the Zurg pin. Here they are:
Finally, after getting the free gift I had to leave. I left on the monorail because I had dinner reservations at the Magic Kingdom. This was my first pin event and it was very exciting! I can't wait for my next trip to Walt Disney World!
P.S. next years pin event is called the Imagination Gala!
