Canceled: Disney Backstage Collection Subscription
We just received the 7th Disney Backstage Collection canister in the mail, and now shopDisney has announced the program has ended. In case you missed it, check out the final pin which features The Emperor’s New Groove.
Above is the email I received from shopDisney. I looked forward to a new canister every month to see what the new theme was. Since the Disney Park Packs have ended, this was the last official subscription box from shopDisney that included a pin. In better news, shopDisney is offering a refund to participants for the remaining canisters and a $25 coupon! Here is a look at all 7 pins that released from October 2019 to April 2020.

Based on their ads, canister #7 was a revised version of the starter canister (#1). The Disney Bros Studio art on that canister was different than the first, with a different color scheme as well. I wonder if any late subscribers ever got it, since the initial plan was for the starter canister to change every six months? Kind of annoying that the full set jumps from #6 to #8, but the pins were generally pretty unique!
I was confused abut the canister numbers skipping too. I had contacted customer service thinking I was missing one and that’s when i was told about #7 is actually starter canister for new subscribers. They could have made it a little less confusing.
Anyways, I’m a little disappointed that they ended it because I liked some of the shirts. The pins I thought were a little boring and was hoping for a little fancier pins with the cost that was associated with this subscription, especially since it had to be paid all up front. They were unique, I’ll give them that, just wish they had a little more of a premium look to them.
At least I was able to receive 2 of the shirts I was looking forward to, Fantasia and the 3 Caballeros, before they cancelled the subscription. Let’s just hope they refund the current amount and in a timely fashion.
