I’m still working on this, myself. There are so many pins out there and I live 12 hours from the nearest park. 🙁
The closest things I have to collections so far are Mulan and Hercules. I would like to start a Great Mouse Detective collection, especially. It’s hard for me to get pins right now, though, especially from those movies. I don’t see anyone else doing GMD or Mulan as much. 🙂
As far as I’m aware, WDI pins come out every now and then and WDI stands for “Walt Disney Imagineering” and they’re super rare and distinctive. That’s likely why they’re more expensive. Some are cast member exclusive, again rendering them more valuable. I personally won’t get on the hype train because I can’t afford to, but that’s what I know about them. They’re available at Mickey’s of Glendale, a specialty store (west coast/Disneyland only, unfortunate for us east coast peasants).
I’m a bit envious of those that can afford to get these pins because I want them, obviously, but what can ya do? I’m certainly not shilling out $50+ a pin.
I’m probably not the ideal person to ask, but I hope this helped anyway. 🙂
I’m too afraid to put my pins in those hard cork boards. I have this cute little piece of fabric with a fish on it and I just use that. It’s a little thicker than a normal sheet of fabric because it had some sticky paper on the back before I actually used it.
I know it’s not the most “professional” looking way to store, but it works, I think it looks nice when hung up, and it doesn’t make me paranoid about my pins coming loose.
I love the NBC pins! Nice board. 🙂April 16, 2018 at 11:34 AM in reply to: What's the highest amount you're willing to spend on one pin? #28202
That’s true, but just because a pin is worth a certain amount, that may not mean anyone is willing to pay that much of their own money since most can’t afford to spend like that. Maybe I’m just cheap, but I’m also passionate about this trading and collecting, so I see where you’re coming from.April 12, 2018 at 8:49 AM in reply to: What's the highest amount you're willing to spend on one pin? #28110
The most I would personally spend on a pin is ~$40. Only if it’s really special.April 11, 2018 at 8:02 PM in reply to: What's the highest amount you're willing to spend on one pin? #28082
I know! I’ve been trolling Instagram for pins after I got one recently and I’ve been seeing nothing but these beautiful WDI Heroine and Villain pins. There’s no doubt I want them, but everyone I follow is selling them for hundreds of dollars! I posted about this very thing on another forum topic and it’s just irritated me so much. And guess what? These people are sold out, meaning people have been spending approximately $250 on one pin. It baffles me.
The highest price I saw was Rapunzel for $600!
I know this forum is old, but I was trolling the forums and just had to say:
The same happens on Instagram. And people actually buy them! Lately in the heroine pin set (the profiles on the coloured backgrounds), people are selling them for hundreds of dollars on the day of their release and even after that. Ridiculous. They’re beautiful pins that I want for myself, but still ridiculous.April 8, 2018 at 9:02 PM in reply to: What's the highest amount you're willing to spend on one pin? #27937
Well, update: I ordered it and with shipping it was $31, which isn’t so bad because I had a $50 Amazon card unused and left over from Christmas.
The unfortunate thing is that many of the pins I want are rare the majority of the time, meaning they will likely be more expensive.March 1, 2018 at 10:03 AM in reply to: Pins that don't yet exist but would be great to have #26906
Thanks for your contribution. 🙂
I’d love to see those, too, especially Finding Dory pins!
