We are getting lots of questions on the Windows of Evil pin collection from Disneyland. I figured I’d list the RUMORS here and let everyone chime in. Unfortunately we don’t have an exact answer on this series yet.
1. It’s becoming a surprise release moving forward
2. Disney is taking June off and will return in July
3. The series is done
Please let everyone know if you have any additional information! Thanks!June 14, 2018 at 4:49 PM #30768
According to the CM I spoke to today, they will not be releasing the pins until August. Idk if they will release 3 that month to get caught up or 2 a month for 2 months? Also, they will be putting a restriction in place so Disney can monitor how many pins each person buys. The CMs are going to have to make sure guests stick to the 2 per person rule; no more store hopping to buy miltiple sets.June 15, 2018 at 7:32 PM #30799
I also heard that the next pins wouldn’t be released until August, but I wasn’t told an explanation and it was stated as “We think”, so I don’t believe Cm’s are privy to what’s going on unless they’re in retail management. One rumor was that they were changing manufacturers of the pins (to crack down on scrappers and PPs).
Disneyland is actively looking into a system that is similar to what is done at DSSH. Initial rumors include flagging passes that have discounted the UPC code twice already, but I believe if Disney did something like this that they would try something more like stamping passholders hands or tickets with an ink that couldn’t be washed off for a couple days, or something similar to the voucher system in place for DSSH. Customers would also be required to show proof of admission (only paying customers, no babies) and possibly even their own forms of payment. This is meant to crack down on people taking their whole family to buy pins at multiple stores. It’s already a proposition where, hey, they’re paying ticket holders – every paying customer should have the right to buy, but the limit of 2 per person needs to be strictly enforced for these releases. There’s simply too much demand and the main thread I heard from all CM’s is that the last two releases have been mob scenes, and that this needs to be corrected before they’ll release the rest.June 22, 2018 at 11:40 AM #31079
At the pin release yesterday in Disneyland a CM told the people in line at Westward Ho something similar to these rumors. From what I did hear yes they will not be released in June or July. They will come back in August and he made it seem like multiple releases. I think i also heard something about getting more pins in stock in smaller numbers and them being distributed around the stores in Disneyland. Not entirely sure i heard everything there. I got the impression he meant previous pins but he probably meant the new pins coming out to make up for the missing months. Not sure about the surprise release or the series being done, though he was explaining a good deal so i may have missed part of it. I also may have misheard some parts but I hope this helps some.October 3, 2018 at 3:32 AM #35531
On my latest trip to Disneyland, I was told that the series was retired; they never found a sufficient answer to the fake scrapper pins being sold from China and the PP pins from the supplier. In conjunction with the mob scenes the pins caused, Disney decided cancelling the rest of the series was the most prudent thing to do. It appears, according to this cast member, that Windows of Evil is done.October 21, 2018 at 3:58 AM #36205
Wow that is really sad to hear. Especially after the pin event showed them off. I dont know the initial buzz and how the releases were compared to regular pins but that sounds like a lot of things going wrong to lead to this sad conclusion.
Would anyone care to elaborate on how intense the windows of evil pin releases were in the past? I’m just curious.October 24, 2018 at 12:40 AM #36366
Hi BuddyDale. I have attended all of the WOE releases. The first couple releases were surprisingly low key with not too many people lined up. I think Maleficent even lasted until the afternoon before selling out. Ursula was a turning point. There were over 500 people lined up by 730-ish that morning and probably pretty close to 1000 people by the time they were opening the shop. And that was just Downtown Disney. I could only imagine the lines at the other stores in the Parks. The Oogie Boogie release was worse with more people showing up. I had heard there were fights in DCA. Oh, the memories! Lol. I can only imagine how Disney is going to handle the releases of the remaining pins.October 26, 2018 at 4:11 AM #36537
Wowza. Thanks for sharing NeverNuffPins. That is crazier than i could have ever imagined. I can understand though cause Dinseyland pins seem way crazier than disney world and AP’s know how early to get here. Part of me almost hopes they dont get released just cause of how bad it will be. That or they just sell the rest online.October 26, 2018 at 8:56 AM #36544
The next Windows of Evil pin will be released on November 29th! Features Dr. FacilierOctober 26, 2018 at 10:59 AM #36551
Also Chernabog!October 26, 2018 at 2:07 PM #36559
Oooh, this is really exciting news. Chernabog was the main one I was looking to get. Can’t wait to hear more and see what happens. Thanks Admin.October 26, 2018 at 6:39 PM #36573
Awesome! Best news I’ve heard all month! Can’t wait to finish this series. Thanks for the update!November 8, 2018 at 1:40 PM #37595
It’s obviously not on the official release sheet for November, but as everyone can see they are releasing a LOT of pins that day, and it shouldn’t be a surprise that they would release the remaining WOE pins as surprise releases to cut down on the insane crowds that built up. Really, I don’t think there is any other answer to handle the demand, other than, drop it right after Thanksgiving, do it surprise style, and with a TON of other pins, so supply can meet demand. I haven’t gotten CM confirmation myself that they’re being released on the 29th, but I’ll be there anyways and will post that day if they’re released or not. Of course, everyone can also check eBay that morning as well 😂
I’ve attached a photo of the pin release sheet they gave to CM’s earlier in October, so the posting here is clearly an updated sheet, or an older sheet. I have no way of knowing which is which.

Hey @disneymania. I know I can’t give you much more confirmation but I had a similar story of seeing the monthly flier at Westward Ho Trading Company in Disneyland about a week ago and the cast member behind the counter did make mention of the Windows of Evil pins not being on the flier but releasing that month. I think you are right they intentionally are keeping it a secretm of sorts, to help manage the crowds. I will be there myself that morning so time will tell but it sounds like a big day for pins so it would make sense.
