Got some work done on our new display boards today. These started life as 16×20″ cork foam boards. I cut the boards into silhouettes of the Fab Four and spray painted them.
I used “Rustoleum Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Paint+Primer” (long name I know). I selected glossy paint for all except Goofy’s green since all they had was matte. The green took about 4 coats to cover while the others only required 2. This may be due to the matte finish but I think it’s also because the green was by far the lightest shade.
They will be hung using small 3M Command hooks. Each hook is rated at 1/2 pound so I will be using multiple on the back of each board. They will be suspended on the wall using picture hanging wire and eyelets.
Once they are good and dry we will be adding small details with acrylic paint but not too much, since I’m planning on covering THE ENTIRE THING with pins ?. I’ll update when they are done and hanging.

These are awesome! They turned out great, thanks so much for sharing. Was it hard to cut the cork board?August 9, 2015 at 5:48 PM - Views: 195 #7370
Added finishing touches. Now just waiting for them to dry so I can clear coat them.
They cut very easily with an exacto. We printed outlines large enough to cover and traced them out, then carefully cut the shapes.
