KeymasterJust wanted to start a thread for the Love is an Adventure pin event at Walt Disney World. This is the annual pin event at Epcot for 2017. We should receive more details soon!

ParticipantMy son and I are new to pin trading. This event sounds exciting. Is this usually well attended? We have never been.

KeymasterIt is the biggest pin event of the year! About 1,000 people usually attend, it is a great time to pin trade on the boards and with other guests.
More information should be coming out soon. The registration date is usually in April.

ParticipantI am sad that they are taking away the breakfast! That was a great opportunity to trade on the boards early – and get a cool breakfast pin! I was looking forward to it…

KeymasterI agree, JenLyn1620. I really loved attending the breakfast, getting the pin and being able to trade early. It’s disappointing that they cut that and the silent auction. I wish they would bring back Pin Talk and the store as well!
Seems like they keep cutting things without adding anything new. I’m excited to see the pin releases though!

ParticipantI’m really excited about this event! Where do we go to register? Also, are Fantasy Pins allow to be traded at this event as well?

KeymasterCan’t wait! Registration will open up here on April 25, 2017 at 1pm ET. http://www.disneyparksmerchandise.com/events/save-the-date-love-is-an-adventure-pin-trading-event/?instance_id=
Fantasy pins aren’t allowed in regular room with Disney trading boards, but you could probably trade them with other guests in the second room.

ParticipantCan anyone explain how the Random Selection Process works? Or provide a link.
April 24, 2017 at 6:05 PM #19167nlbarber
ParticipantI’ll start, and others can add detail or correct things I get wrong. I thought I could find a link or email from an earlier event to remind me, but no…
After you’ve registered you’ll get the detailed info for this year, a deadline date for your RSP submission, and the link. By my email from last year, I could list 8 choices in priority order in the first RSP, then I think 8 more in each of the second and third rounds. Generally you can only request 1 of any pin in a round, with the exception of the mystery sets….or maybe the mystery sets also have that limitation but you can put the total number you’d like to purchase if available.
After all the submissions are in, they look at everyone’s first choice in the first RSP and see who gets the various pins, then they move to choice #2, choice #3, etc. If more pins are requested than are available in a round, the winners are selected randomly. After going through all of the first RSP, the process repeats for the second and third.
Sometime after the RSP deadline and before the actual event, you’ll get an email stating which pins you were awarded. At this point you can change your mind and refuse some or all of the selections before your credit card is charged. You can also change your mind at merchandise pickup when you actually see the pins. They will apply AP/DVC/ etc discounts to your purchase if you provide the necessary info.
That’s the general idea, anyway–if I got some details wrong or if some of this has been changing every year, others will hopefully chime in with corrections.
