Has anyone ever heard of Disneyana? I was told that 5-10 years ago there use to be a kind of price guide publication for Disney Pins? I saw on Amazon a price guide by a company called Tomart’s that listed prices of Disney pin’s and up until 2012. Will there be another price guide coming out? Is Tomart’s still a company? I also looked into and found a website Disneya.com (has anyone else seen this website)? I have sent many request to Disneyana.com to contact me at least once a month for the last year and have yet to get a response. Since I have involved myself into this Disney Pin world and spending THOUSANDS of dollars in the last 3 years (buying mostly LE 250 and lower pins) I want to know how people come up with the cost of their pins. I have seen on E-bay people list pins for 4K that I know for a fact that can NOT be true. I have contact many sellers asking them to explain their price points and most have refused to reply back. The comic book and sport card collecting world has price guides and regulations (like the stock market) does such a thing exist in the Disney pin world? Can I go an take a $12 pins and now say it is worth $100 because I feel it should be? I have been trying to get answers to these questions for 2+ years SOMEONE/ANYONE help me PLEASE!!June 27, 2018 at 4:06 PM #31331
I’m not an expert but can tell you I was told that the author of Tomart’s passed away a few years back. I miss it because it was sort of a Disney Beckett guide. I rarely have seen pins being graded but it has been done. I’m not sure which formula they go by. As far as how people price their pins, many can pick any amount and whatever it actually goes for is what most people use as the going rate. I am an Ebay seller (for a little over a year) and I research what a pin sold for recently and use that or less so it’s priced to sell. As for Disneyana, I know there is the Store in Disneyland that sells collectibles but didn’t realize there is a website. I will check it out.July 1, 2018 at 2:22 AM #31422
Just logged on after years away and noticed your post about “Disneyana”. Disneyana is a term used by many folks, clubs and such and doesn’t have to be associated officially with the Walt Disney Company. It appears you discovered one such site “Disneyana.com”. On that site, I recognized “SACC”. I believe that’s Santa Ana Coins and Collectibles of Santa Ana, CALIF, run by Jim Jensen. He is a long time (decades) Disney pin collector. He and his wife sell pins and fine Disneyana collectibles at the DFC (Disneyana Fan Club) Show and Sales. SACC had a warehouse you could visit a while back, but haven’t visited there in years. The DFC’s next sale is scheduled for 7th October in Anaheim at the Double-Tree Suites near the Hilton. Recall Mr. Jensen had a table at the last DFC Show & Sale in Feb 2018. The DFC has a web site http://www.disneyanafanclub.org and Facebook page. They’ve been around for more than 30 years. Hope that helps. Really do miss the Tomart’s Disneyana Update magazines and Pin Price Guides.
