Just a quick reply to why the event isn’t bigger. Until this year there was no reason to believe that the event would sell out so quickly. The event usually takes a month or so to sell out. At this point the event venue, pin quantity, staff to work it, etc. have already been planned out so changing venues and adding more guests would be more hassle than its worth I would think. As far as just brining in more people trust that that would make the event awful to attend. As of now it is pretty crowded in the event space and the lines for the boards can sometimes be 2 hours long. Adding more people on top of that would definitely hurt the event and make it no fun for anyone there. Hopefully, what we get out of this is maybe getting the event on a semi annual basis instead of just doubling the amount of people they sell tickets to.July 7, 2019 at 10:38 AM #52795

We are finally able to go this year *and* were lucky enough to get tickets! Being a first-timer, does anyone have good advice for the event? What to bring? How to plan the days–like if we want to try to do some Epcot rides, is that feasible and if so for what day/time should I try to get my Soaring Fast Pass ;-)? Recommendations for lunch/food? Thanks!July 31, 2019 at 9:22 PM #54138neverenuffpinsParticipant
Hi! I hope someone out there can help me. I will be attending the big event next week and this will be my first trip traveling with my collection. Has anyone taken their collection in their carry on bag through TSA security and on to the plane? I don’t want to trust all of my pins to some bag handlers and hope nothing gets lost. Thanks!July 31, 2019 at 9:48 PM #54139Charles DonhamParticipant
neverenuffpins… I have traveled with pins for events several times and have encountered the worst of situations. If you check your pins bags you risk the airline loosing your bags which could delay/ruin your weekend. Last year, I had a table paid for at a pin pics event and southwest detoured my bag so I ended up sitting there with zero pins to trade as everyone walked by me wondering why I was sitting at an empty table. If at all possible, try to bring your pins as carry-on. When they go through the x-ray, they will likely pull them for extra screening. If you use binders with plastic inserts (like baseball card holders), warn them in advance to be careful or they will aggressively flip through them and rip the plastic sheets. Get a zuca if you can, it helps carry some pins and is a good seat while waiting in line at the event. Hope this helps. Good luck at the pin boards and see you next week!July 31, 2019 at 10:31 PM #54140neverenuffpinsParticipant
Hi Charles. Thank you for sharing your story and I’m sorry you had to pay for a table and not get to trade. How disappointing. Hopefully Southwest compensated you somehow for your troubles.
Thank you for the words of wisdom. I plan on taking my pins in my carry on so I am planning on being at the airport extra early because I think it will take me that much longer to go through security. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly to FL and on my return trip home. Hope to see your collection next week and maybe do a trade!
