Can someone explain to me WHY WDI pins are generally more expensive than other Disney Pins? I recently saw some WDI Villain pins (LE 250) the average cost was roughly $300.00 (several over $1000.00) EACH!!!! I have seen several NON-WDI pins that were LE 250, LE 200, LE 100 and LE 50 pins CHEAPER than these WDI pins. What does WDI mean? How often does WDI pins come out (how many times in a year or years)?
As far as I’m aware, WDI pins come out every now and then and WDI stands for “Walt Disney Imagineering” and they’re super rare and distinctive. That’s likely why they’re more expensive. Some are cast member exclusive, again rendering them more valuable. I personally won’t get on the hype train because I can’t afford to, but that’s what I know about them. They’re available at Mickey’s of Glendale, a specialty store (west coast/Disneyland only, unfortunate for us east coast peasants).
I’m a bit envious of those that can afford to get these pins because I want them, obviously, but what can ya do? I’m certainly not shilling out $50+ a pin.
I’m probably not the ideal person to ask, but I hope this helped anyway. 🙂
